چکیده

Early transmitral flow (MiF) patterns depend strongly on the rate of fall of measured left ventricular pressure (Pm) determined by both the active decay of pressure (Pa) due to myocardial relaxation and the increase in pressure due to stretch of passive elements during filling (Pp). This study was designed to uncouple passive forces from deactivation in order to reveal the instantaneous rate and duration of myocardial relaxation. We assumed a parallel combination of passive and active elements: Pm(t,V)=Pa(t)+Pp(V), with no constraints on the

Equal oxygen consumption rates of isovolumic and ejecting contractions with equal systolic pressure-volume areas in canine left ventricle.

Left ventricle systolic pressure-volume area (PVA) has been found to be highly linearly correlated with cardiac oxygen consumption rate per beat (VO2) in a given canine heart with a stable inotropic background. PVA is a specific area in the pressure-volume (P-V) diagram that is bounded by the end-systolic and end-diastolic P-V relationship lines and the systolic segment of the P-V loop, consist...

Analysis of diastolic pressure-volume relation of the canine left ventricle: half-inflation pressure as an index of left ventricular compliance.

A sensitive index was proposed for the determination of left ventricular compliance. In the isolated potassium-arrested canine left ventricle, the pressure-volume (P-V) relationship was expressed as deltaV=a-be-cP throughout the range of filling pressure from 0 to 40 cmH2O, where deltaV and P were the actual volume change and intraventricular pressure, and a, b and c were constants. Then, half-...

Water, nitrogen, and electrolyte content of right and left ventricular walls and interventricular septum of normal canine hearts.

The water, nitrogen, and electrolyte content of the normal canine myocardium partitioned as right ventricle, septum, and left ventricle are presented on a connective tissue-free basis as well as fat-free and blood-free. Considering the tissue on a fat-free, blood-free, connective tissue-free basis, the extracellular phase (expressed as g/kg heart muscle) of the left ventricle was 86% that of th...

The effect of contractility and preload on matching between the canine left ventricle and afterload.

We define matching between ventricle and afterload to imply that the ventricle is adapted to its afterload to yield maximum external work output. For the ventricle, this optimal adaption will depend on end-diastolic dimension, heart rate, and contractility. Because contractility is impaired during ventricular failure, we propose that the adaption between ventricle and load is not as good during...

Diastolic pressure-volume relationship in the canine left ventricle.

Analysis of the passive pressure-volume filling curve of the left ventricle demonstrates that heart size and ventricular geometry exert major effects on the pressure-volume curve in the absence of changes in intrinsic muscle stiffness. Because the pressure-volume relationship is curvilinear, both quantitative and qualitative comparison of pressure-volume curves from different hearts is difficul...

Quantification of eNOS mRNA in the canine cardiac vasculature by competitive PCR.

The goal of the present study was to develop a competitive PCR assay to measure changes in the expression of endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) mRNA levels throughout the canine vascular tree. A partial sequence of canine eNOS cDNA (1.86 kb), inducible NOS (1.95 kb), and neuronal NOS (1.16 kb) was cultured from canine aortic endothelial cells, LPS-treated canine splenic vein endothelial c...
